What another fantastic day for maid marian today as she continued on with her maid research assignment. However Mistress Adira had no intention of letting maid marian rest on her laurels as i was required to wear my uniform again today - as well as my 6" heels. Oh how much i hate wearing those 6" heels. Today i had to wear them for 45 minutes then have a rest for 30 minutes. i was to repeat this process as many times as i could. i did mange to wear my 6" heels for 4 x 45 minute periods but i am sure that was only because i was sitting at my computer most of the time doing my maid research assignment. i find it interesting that when wearing my 6" heels that a different part of my leg ache. It is not the balls of my feet that ache this evening, it is the backs of my calves and the achilles that ache - it is like my legs have been stretched all evening.

i have had a wonderful time researching maid's duties and uniforms - maids live a very disciplined lifestyle and have a very strict set of rules and behaviours to live by just like a slave. Iit made me realize why i enjoy being a maid so much! i found it fascinating the difference between the different types of maids there are: from the prestigious Lady's maid to the Scullery maid. i began to think what type of maid would maid marian have liked to be and whilst most people would strive to be a Lady's maid with the prestige, glamour and feminine world in which you would live, would probably be most sought after by any young girl. However the choice for me was very easy: i would have been happy being a scullery maid working 18 hours a day cleaning, scrubbing, washing from 5.00am till 11.00pm every day. What a wonderful life that would be. Nothing to worry about ever - just wake up, do your job and go to bed. Just perfect. And as an added bonus, get to eat your meals in the kitchen!

i am serious when i say i would have been most happy being a scullery maid. i think if only i could go back in time 200 years ago and be maid marian the scullery maid, wearing my full length maids uniform including petticoat, skirt, stockings, heels, apron, corset and cap. It would just be fabulous to be able to do that. i ponder: would i be able to do that for 18 hours straight? i think so, but i am not sure and then i think one day would be easy what about the next day, week or year? That would be the big test as to whether i really could have been a scullery maid. Still i will just have to remain in awe of such wonderful females!
